Important: A $3.95 convenience fee applies for payments up to $300. An additional $3.95 fee applies for each $300 increment.

  • Payments made by mail, night deposit, or third-party services like DOXO.com may be delayed until funds are received. To avoid delays or service disconnections, use the official DES website, app, or in-person payment options for faster processing and reliability.
  • A late charge of 5% will be applied to the unpaid balance of the utility bill if payment is not made by the due date. Residential customers may have a late charge waived if they meet the following conditions: no late charges have been incurred in the past twelve months, they have at least twelve months of payment history at their current address, and the bill is paid before the regularly scheduled cutoff date. To request a waiver of the late charge, you must contact us directly.

1. How can I view my bill?

You can view your bill online or access it through our mobile application. We also offer both e billing and paper billing options, so you can choose to go paperless, continue with paper bills, or subscribe to both for added convenience.

2. How long do I have to pay my bill?

Traditional Billing

  • You have approximately 15 days from the bill date to make your payment before a penalty is applied.
  • Service may be disconnected approximately 21 days after the bill date if payment is not made.

Pre-Pay Meter (PPM)

  • No electric bill will be mailed.
  • You must monitor your PPM account balance and ensure it does not fall below $0.00.
  • If your PPM account balance is less than $0.00, the meter will be eligible for disconnection.
  • If disconnected, you must restore your account to a minimum $50.00 balance.
  • If the PPM account stays off for more than 7 days, the account will be closed, and a final bill will be mailed to your last known address.

6. What is budget billing, and how can I set it up?

Budget billing allows you to pay an average monthly amount, making your bills more predictable. To qualify:

  • You must have been on our system for at least 12 months.
  • Once eligible, we’ll average your bills so you can manage payments more evenly and settle any remaining balance at a later date.

7. Can I get an extension on my bill?

8. How can I pay someone else’s bill using Quick Pay?

You can use the Quick Pay feature on our website to pay someone else’s bill. Here’s how:

  1. Go to despower.com and navigate to the Quick Pay section.

    • Their phone number,
    • Billing Zip code, or
